  • The Word: Eternal, Settled, and Supreme

If we are going to build anything that lasts, we must begin where God begins.

    Not with opinion.
    Not with emotion.
    Not with tradition.

    We begin with the Word.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
    — John 1:1 (KJV)

Before there was light, there was the Word.
Before there was earth, there was the Word.
Before there was man, there was the Word.

The Word is not a product of history.
History is a product of the Word.

“For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”
    — Psalm 119:89 (KJV)

    Settled means fixed. Established. Final.

    God is not editing truth.
    He is not revising doctrine.
    He is not polling culture.

    It is settled.

    The Word Is Inspired

    Scripture is not religious literature.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God…”
    — 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)

    God-breathed.

    Peter explains how:

“Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
    — 2 Peter 1:21 (KJV)

    Men wrote.
    God authored.

    Every word matters.

Not ideas inspired — words inspired.

    The Word Is Preserved

If God inspired His Word but could not keep it, He would not be God.

    But He promises preservation:

“The words of the LORD are pure words…
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
    — Psalm 12:6–7 (KJV)

    And Jesus confirms:

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
    — Matthew 24:35 (KJV)

    Governments fall.
    Empires collapse.
    Technology changes.

    The Word remains.

    The Word Is Powerful

    This Book is alive.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…”
    — Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

    It cuts deeper than argument.
    It pierces deeper than intellect.

    It exposes:

“…a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
    — Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

    Jeremiah said:

“Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”
    — Jeremiah 23:29 (KJV)

    Fire refines.
    A hammer breaks.
    The Word does both.

    The Word Judges Us

Modern man wants to judge Scripture.

    But Jesus said:

“The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”
    — John 12:48 (KJV)

We do not stand over the Word.
    We stand under it.

Authority flows from revelation — not preference.

    Why This Is First

If the Word is eternal, inspired, preserved, and powerful — then it is final authority.

And if it is final authority, then discipleship begins with submission.

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
    — John 17:17 (KJV)

    Truth is not a trend.
    It is not a feeling.
    It is not a platform.

It is the Word of God.

And if we build on anything else — eventually it will fall.

    The foundation must be settled.

    The authority must be clear.

    The Word must be first.
